In 2006 George Dawson’s memory was honoured by Council naming the road, 33 A Avenue, outside his home in Brookswood “George Dawson Way”. Mr. Dawson passed away suddenly in December of 2005. He led a distinguished life right to the end as he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s approximately twenty years ago. George epitomized the true sense of Langley community spirit and always showed kindness and consideration to everyone he met. He and his wife, Margaret, raised their children, Dave and Carol, in Langley. His hobby was working on old cars which included his lowered and chopped 1950’s Mercury’s.

George started Dawson Brill Lumber with the father of Canadian Olympic athlete, Debbie Brill. When George retired from the lumber business, his son, David took over and ran the business for many years. George and his son helped supply the lumber for many of the homes that were built in the area. They also employed many local residents over the years. Recently his son sold the business but the lumberyard is still running today under the same name.
