The groups are contributing anywhere from $125,000 to $3.5 million to the project. And with these groups come major competitions and a boon to local restaurants, businesses and hotels.

"So far every single thing we have bid on to bring here, we have been successful," said Jason Winslade, the Township's general manager of administration and community services.

He was conducting a tour of the facilities for a group which included Township Mayor Kurt Alberts, Councillor Grant Ward and Langley MP Mark Warawa, on Wednesday afternoon.

The Township is hoping to acquire some federal funding for the project.

Gymnastics BC, through the Langley Gymnastics Foundation and Flip City Gymnastics, are hosting the 2009 provincial championships in both artistic and the tumbling and trampoline disciplines.

LGF will see their floor space increase nearly five times from what they currently have, going from 3,500 square feet to 18,000 square feet.

Trinity Western is hosting the Canadian Interuniversity Sport men's national volleyball championships in March 2011.

Basketball BC is scheduled to set up all of their programs at the events centre as well, meaning Langley will play host to all of their programs of excellence for the various age groups.

Basketball will be played in one of the triple gymnasiums being constructed. In addition, the floor in the ice arena can be covered by a wooden floor - provided courtesy of Basketball BC - to take advantage of the 3,000-plus seats in the arena.

The main arena also has 28 luxury suites available for lease. The regular gymnasiums can hold 1,000 fans at either end thanks to the pull-out bleachers.
