"However, if we take away the 15,000 people from Aldergrove and Gloucester that would only leave them with the 2,000 or so they service in West Abbotsford, and that would make it a very costly service for a small amount of people."

Ferguson said inter-connection of the Fraser Valley and Metro Vancouver water systems was also desirable from an economic point of view.

"None of us are an island any more," said Ferguson.
