Adopt-A-Program encourages members of the public to pitch in and clean up local streets, highways, parks, and streams. Yong provided the teams of students and adults with litter pickers, garbage bags, and gloves, gave them a safety talk, and provided giveaways.

Kim Pederson of the Aldergrove Community Police Office was pleased with the turn-out - and with the group's effort to come out and clean up after school: "The kids want to be here," she said. "They are all volunteers.

RCMP Superintendent Janice Armstrong also joined the group, which collected seven bags of garbage, two bags of recycling, and covered over graffiti on several community landmarks, before celebrating with a pizza.
