Winslade said it is the partnerships that have made this facility so unique in the Lower Mainland, and the centre is expected to be used on a daily basis.
The project was announced in December 2006, when Fort Langley-Aldergrove MLA brought a $15 million contribution from the province of B.C. Another $15 million came from the Langley Development Group and the Township put up a share of $16.5 million.
The Langley Development Group includes principles of the Langley Chiefs junior A hockey organization.
And other groups ranging from the Fraser Valley Italo-Canadian Society, Basketball BC, the B.C. Wood Council, the International Basketball League's Vancouver Titans, the Steve Nash Youth Basketball League, the Langley Thunder senior A lacrosse team, the junior A lacrosse South Fraser Stickmen, and Global Sports Services, have also contributed to the events centre and will be using the facility on a regular basis.
